6th Grade Social Studies Welcomed Former Penobscot Chief Barry Dana
Last Monday the 6th grade Social Studies Teams welcomed former Penobscot chief Barry Dana to interact with 6th grade students. Having recently completed our Wabanaki Unit, his visit was timely because students had familiarity with the history and cultural information that he discussed with them. Barry was able to give insight into accurate terminology and provide answers to questions our secondary sources do not provide. We are grateful for Barry’s willingness to provide an indigenous voice that helped enhance our understanding of indigenous culture and history.
