Congrats to all GMS students.  The hard work paid off this year with a high percentage of students demonstrating strong growth through their iReady scores. Also, high praise for 7th grade for their best-of-school attendance last week!  The best prep for next year is to continue showing up, working hard, and making each day count.

Master drummer Sayon Camara,  from the village of Kouya Sidia in Guinea, West Africa, visited with MIW students last week.

How about the 8th Grade Math Team and their 2nd place finish at the So. Maine Math League meet? Lincoln Welles also earned a 2nd place, individually.

Congratulations to Derek Soule! On Thursday, May 8 the GHS baseball team won their game making it Derek's 350th win as a coach!

Congratulations to our five 2025 Employee of the Year finalists: Emily Banks-Moulton, Kristen Benoit, Eric Brown, Johna King, & Arianna Rothbart!

Full House!  This week concluded with a huge group of 6th and 7th graders attending the Spring Fling Step-Up Dance.  Back from spring break, attendance improved each day, with 97% of all 6-8 students at school on Friday.  Let’s keep that momentum going for these last 6 weeks of school!

Greely soccer coach honored at the State House for national award.

Grade 6 social studies classes were honored to welcome Mr. Barry Dana back to GMS on April 14th. Mr. Dana, a member of the Penobscot Nation and a former chief of this nation, shared his insights and experiences regarding Penobscot culture.  This was an incredibly valuable opportunity to hear from a primary source, someone who lives and breathes the history and traditions we've been learning about in our social studies classes. We all gained a deeper appreciation for the rich history and vibrant presence of the Penobscot Nation.
