Hey families! Lots of GMS student accomplishments highlighted below. Who is headed for national competition? Keep reading. And even though I’m not willing to post a photo of myself from the 1980’s, GMS students will take you back to that time period with their drama production titled, “Back to the 80’s”. May 16 and 18!
A quick thank you to students for their efforts to be at school. This past week we averaged 97% attendance, with 510 out of 518 in attendance Thursday. It makes a difference!
ALSO - thanks to the PTO for making Staff Appreciation Week extra amazing…

Ten GMS students advanced to the National History Day (NHD) National Contest after this past weekend’s state competition! This is an extraordinary accomplishment and reflects months of research, writing, and creativity from a group of students who went above and beyond.
Look for an opportunity to ask Emmett Macgregor, Olivia Durrant, Simone Colby, Anthony Chandler, Bradley Belanger, Lydia Hasbrouck, Clara Hasbrouck, Van Eskandri, Matthew Wilkerson, David Gilbert, or Lucian Swihart about their impressive projects. The National Contest will be held this June at the University of Maryland.
In the classroom
Students in 6th science bring their knowledge of sound waves to life using their creativity to create their very own musical instruments!
I’m grateful each day for the opportunity to support the amazing work of GMS students and staff. Another week of best wishes to all,
Dr. Monte Selby, GMS 6-8 principal
