Principal Spotlight - April 4, 2025

Hello GMS,

A favorite moment for me this week was listening to well-prepared 7th graders in ELA engage in a Socratic Seminar.  They backed up their ideas and opinions with specific literary references.  Impressive!

Also impressive was having 96% of all GMS students in attendance last week.  Consider that 6th grade averaged 164 out of 171 students present each day, while 7th grade averaged 163 out of 170.  Great attendance makes it easier to keep up, lowers anxiety levels, and helps kids learn more.

Reminder: Tuesday and Wednesday, April 15 and 16, GMS students will demonstrate what they’ve learned this year during the Maine Through Year tests.  A good night of sleep, healthy breakfast, and words of encouragement are always a great idea.

Join us on April 11th, at 6 pm in the GCA.

This week?  Ask a 6th grader about “I Am” poems, solving one step equations, building instruments to explore amplitude and frequency, or the five tribes of the Wabanaki Confederacy.

If your 7th grader is in Mrs. Daigle’s 5th or 7th grade math class, ask if they were able to successfully land their plane.

April showers - Coffee & Conversation

Parent’s Invited :: Coffee & Conversation.   On ThursdayApril 10 at 9:00 a.m., parents and guardians are welcome to join me for coffee and a very casual conversation about navigating middle school life. We’ll discuss how quickly it changes from 6th through 8th grade (struggles and strategies.)  Meet in the back section of the cafeteria.  Make it a great week,
