Principal Spotlight - January 17, 2025

World Record???  Maybe not, but 99.4% of the 6th graders at school on Friday were ON TIME (not tardy).  Correct.  On a Friday!

Did you know? Marshwood Middle School staff visited the GMS science teachers to learn more about why our students do so well on the Maine state science assessment.  Big compliments to our science teachers for making science lessons dynamic and unforgettable.

In the Classroom

8th grade science students have been investigating motion using "computer connected" PocketLab G-Force cars.

After creating solutions regarding the portables, 6th graders present their project to classmates.

In English Language Arts, the 8th grade students have been studying the Holocaust in preparation for reading Night, a memoir by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel. Students created timelines to understand stages of Jewish persecution by the Nazis and the major events of WWII.

 And…

A big THANKS to the GMS School Climate Committee for making Friday special for staff.  In addition to treats, it was a chance to share compliments.  The poster below serves as a reminder that we can all take a few minutes to let staff, parents, and students know that we appreciate their hard work and willingness to help others.

𝄞 Friends of Greely Music and the MSAD 51 Music Department are pleased to present this year's GREELY'S GOT TALENT!  Open to Dancers, Singers, performers of Magic or Comedy, Musicians, Bands, Jugglers, or any other Unique Talent! Where? April 11th at the GCA -  GGT 2025 Call for Acts Flyer  for full details.

This week we reach the mid-trimester point.  It’s the perfect time to pull up grades and assignments in Powerschool to talk with your middle schooler about how things are going.  If your student needs extra help from school staff, please ask!!

Enjoy the extended weekend,

Dr. Monte Selby, GMS 6-8 principal
