GMS Principals Spotlight: December 20th

Friday : December 20, 2024

Spirit Week brought a wave of positive energy, hands-on learning, and enthusiastic participation.  Before you scroll to the amazing photos below, please read just a few notes!

GMS will begin a new composting program when we return in January.  Take the online game challenge to see if you know more than your middle schooler.  Want to come help out during lunch time for a few days, helping direct students as they learn the composting routine?  Let Monte ([email protected]) know if you're interested.

Help for the Holidays is Here.  The GMS counselors and social workers have compiled an amazing list of resources and supports for families. Thanks team!

In the Classroom

Ask a 6th grader:  What famous person are you researching for ELA?   From social studies class: How did the boy help the community in “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind?”   What city are you researching for your science class weather report?  Mathematically, is it possible to do division when there’s a decimal in the divisor?

Just for fun, ask a 7th graderHow many songs did 7th graders sing on Friday that could also be sung by their parents?   Or ask an 8th graderWhich main character in “Remember the Titans” learned the biggest life lesson during the football season?

Take a moment to send a “thank you” to a teacher that impacts your middle schooler in a positive way.  It makes a difference!  See you all in 2025,

Dr. Monte Selby, GMS 6-8 principal
