99% Halloween magic was in the air Thursday when 99% of all 6th graders attended school. Turned out to be a great day!
In the Classroom
Seventh grade students were privy to a visit by Maine author Betty Culley on Tuesday. Students had finished her novel, The Name She Gave Me, earlier in the week as a class novel. Andrew Cooke, ELA teacher on Team Osprey, conducted a question and answer session, based on student questions and writing in general. Afterwards, Ms. Culley visited all ELA classes where she conferred with students on their poetry. She was extremely pleased and inspired by all she read.

Did you know? Every year the GT social studies groups participate in National History Day. Last year, current GMS 8th grader David Gilbert's documentary came in THIRD IN THE NATION! He had the opportunity to receive feedback from Ken Burns and was interviewed by the Press Herald.
Congrats to David and all of the GMS students who are excelling both in and out of the classroom!
