GMS 6-8 Principal Spotlight: 9.20.24

Welcome to the GMS Spotlight!

September 20, 2024

95%  Hello parents.  It’s the last Friday of summer, with Autumn Equinox on Sunday.  Illnesses increased this week, so school attendance is down a few percentage points.  It’s so helpful that you are calling the front office when your child is absent. Thanks!

Attend when you can!  Most students with great attendance experience less anxiety, feel more confident regarding classwork, acquire less homework, have better grades, feel more connected to classmates, are happier, and learn more!

In the Classroom

8th graders launched into their astronomy unit this week by building and launching paper rockets. After investigating the forces that act on rockets, they modified their designs and built a second rocket which were launched on Thursday.

Thank you Foundation 51 for the grant used to purchase our rocket launcher!

Students in French class listen closely to determine if the statement is true or false.

And…

Parents, THANK YOU for attending Parent/Guardian Night.  I’m continuing to hear from you about the engaging and helpful sessions with teachers.
