Welcome to the GMS Spotlight!
September 13, 2024
100%? Today, every single 6th grader (169 of them) is in attendance. Amazing! 90% of our 6-8 students have had perfect attendance since the beginning of this year. ATTENDANCE MATTERS: Most students with great attendance experience less anxiety, feel more confident regarding classwork, acquire less homework, have better grades, feel more connected to classmates, are happier, and learn more!
In the Classroom
Skyscraper Challenge: 8th grade students in Mr. Ross's math class began the year collaborating on a variety of challenging math puzzles including the skyscraper puzzle. Ask an 8th grader to explain the requirements for a perfect skyscraper…
And…
THANKS! Students are still doing a great job of putting phones in backpacks for the school day. For students who walk or bike or ride with parents at dismissal time, we ask them to wait until the 2nd wave of buses have departed. This is not only about safety, but it also keeps the crosswalks clear so buses can quickly depart and then return on time for 4-5 dismissal.
DON'T MISS IT! Wednesday, September 18, we will start promptly at 5:40 p.m. in the GMS gym for Parent/Guardian Night. We'd really love to see every parent show up and connect with GMS staff. Any questions, please call!
Every single day I'm greeted by polite, interested, and welcoming students. Here's to a great next week!
