Dear GMS families,
There are quite a few things happening in the next two weeks at GMS. Next week is a short week with the observance of Veterans Day on Thursday and no school on Friday. On Monday, November 15 we will hold picture retakes for any student who is dissatisfied with their original photo or who was absent on picture day last month. Please know that we also have Spirit Week beginning on the 15th. That day’s theme is “I woke up this way” so students may want to bring a change of clothes that day if they are having retakes done and still want to participate in Spirit Week.
Fall student involved conferences will be happening virtually over the next three weeks. Monday, November 22 and Tuesday, November 23 are 11:30 early dismissal days for conferences. All conferences this fall will be held virtually. On Monday, November 22, our conferences will run from 11:30am- 7:00PM. On Tuesday, November 23, they will run from 11:30-3:15, but some teachers will be available until 7:00pm that evening, as well. Other teachers will have additional evening conference hours within the next two weeks. Below is the link to conferences where you can sign up to meet with your middle schooler’s teachers.
Lately we have noticed a number of students are forgetting to bring their water bottle to school. Our water fountains are not available still, but the water filling station is accessible. Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle to school each day as having enough water helps students focus and feel their best.
Finally, as the weather gets chillier, please send your child to school with proper outerwear for the weather conditions. We spend time outside every day under most conditions. Students should have coats, hats, mittens, etc. as the weather changes. Thanks for your help with this!
From the Library
The first overdue notices of the year were sent out this week. Please help your student locate & return the library materials they owe as soon as possible. We appreciate your help in this endeavor! We can even collect materials from the MIW & GHS libraries. If the items are truly lost, a replacement copy is greatly appreciated.
If students are looking for what to read next, we have lots of new titles available for check out: all genres, topics, & formats (fiction, nonfiction, biography, etc.)! The online catalog, Destiny, has a section highlighting recently added titles. Check them out!
Covid Clinic Information
First, we would like to apologize for the frustration with all of the technology issues that have happened with the docusign and time slot links that were provided by Northern Light.
Please carefully read the information below. EVERYONE will be starting from the beginning even if you have previously completed the docusign registration process.
Please go to Greely Schools all times and fill out the form for your child.
There are no longer time slots to sign up for due to the link malfunctioning for the past few days. In order to potentially reduce wait times, if at all possible, we request that you follow the group times below. There will be a wait time but the reward at the end of the wait will be one step closer to being fully vaccinated!
Northern Light requests that all registration is completed through the online docusign form.
You should receive an email from Northern Light regarding the vaccine, however, it is not immediate. If you make it through to the end of your docusign form you should be all set.
You do not have to print your form, but are welcome to.
What time should I bring my student on November 17 and December 8?
GMS Grades 4-6 (if age 11 and younger) please try to attend 2:30 - 3:45
MIW students please try to attend 3:45 - 5:30
WHERE: Greely High School Commons; enter through the GCA entrance.
What if I have students in both group times?
You can come to either one, we are just trying to space out the groups in order to hopefully reduce wait times.
What if I already signed up and completed the docusign? Do I have to complete the entire form again?
Yes, please. This way we can be sure that everyone is registered with the current link provided above.
We apologize greatly for the frustration and inconvenience this has brought to many families. We appreciate your kindness and understanding. If you have emailed your school nurse and not received a response, please reach out if you still have issues after completing the process outlined above.
